The effect of immersion in beverages and dental bleaching agents on the surface roughness of resin composites

Introduction: Composite materials may be exposed to chemicals in food and beverages the oral cavity, which can lead changes surface roughness. The aim of this vitro study was evaluate roughness two restorative after exposure coffee green tea followed by a dental bleaching procedure. Methods: For nanofilled composite microhybrid composite, 15 samples each were fabricated. Five specimens from stored instant for 4 h day. After 30 days immersion, received at-home bleaching, using 16% carbamide peroxide (CP), 7 control group deionized water days. Surface determined profilometry 24 polymerization, bleaching. data analyzed t-test paired mixed analysis variance, at 0.05 significance level. Results: Neither nor CP treatment significantly altered composites. There no difference between tested regarding Conclusion: nanohybrid composites not modified coffee, tea, subsequent whitening treatment.
